Sermon Discussion Questions for July 9, 2023
1. If you could talk to your younger self, what are some things you would say?
2. If you could say something to help your younger self prepare for the life ahead, what would you say? Are there teens or young people in your sphere of influence to whom you could say these things?
3. In what ways was the idea of life measured as "Time Billionaires" helpful and/or meaningful to you?
4. Did you complete your Time Calendar? If so, how was that experience?
5. Are there any time investments you feel God inviting you to pursue with the billion(s) or partial billions of seconds left in your life? If so, what is one action step toward beginning one investment?
6. Michael Card's song "Tears of the World" includes this intro verse and chorus: "In any split second of time, in the blink that is one single day, the sum of the sorrows that wraps round the world, could catch every soul up, and sweep them away...So open my eyes, and open my heart, and grant me the gift of Your grieving. And awaken in me the compassion to weep just one of the tears of the world." What is one thing that "awakens in you the compassion to weep just one of the tears of the world"?
7. Read this excerpt from Oswald Chambers MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST (June 8): "Put everything in your life afloat upon God, going out to sea on the great swelling tide of His purpose, and your eyes will be opened. If you believe in Jesus, you are not to spend all your time in the calm waters just inside the harbor, full of joy, but always tied to the dock. You have to get out past the harbor into the great depths of God, and begin to know things for yourself..." What kind of response do these thoughts from Oswald Chambers elicit as you think about your journey with Jesus?
