We conclude our Backward Blessings sermon series with special guest Shohrat Piriyev, speaking on the topic of persecution.
Discussion and Reflection Questions:
1. Discuss your observations of Shohrat’s sermon. How were you informed and encouraged?
2. Review of the Beatitude Sermon Series Questions: Has the Holy Spirit stirred in you a new perspective or understanding of one or more of the Beatitudes? If so, share the Beatitude(s) and the new Spirit led insight.
3. How would you explain the main ideas and truths of the Beatitudes to an interested unbeliever?
4. Pastor Tim pointed out a number of times how the order of the Beatitudes was anything but random. Go down the list and discuss how the order is significant and self-supporting. Blessed are: the poor in Spirit those who mourn the meek those who hunger and thirst for righteousness the merciful the pure in heart the peacemakers the persecuted.

Discussion and Reflection Questions:
1. How and why can we feel good about being persecuted for righteousness’s sake?
2. Persecution can rear its ugly head in many forms. What kinds of persecution could we face in our own community or country?
3. Have you ever been persecuted for righteousness’s sake? If so, share that story.
4. Read 1Pet 3:13-17. Discuss the practical instruction offered in that passage when facing persecution. 5. Please pray for those being persecuted. Included are a couple website links that will guide you to pray for specific areas where persecution is prevalent.
